You’ve got to love the Venezuela football team, certainly my favourite squad from Copa America 2011. Not only did they play a dog in their opening match against Brasil, and their young manager always wears a smile, but this team of no hopers, ranked 69th in the world, play in the same colours as Northampton Town and Latvia, and have their leader sending sms to the team from his bedside in Cuba where he is hanging out with Fidel Castro whilst having chemotherapy treatment. Just ring them Hugo!

I was gutted they lost against Paraguay after hitting the woodwork three times and having a perfectly good goal disallowed. It wasn't a surprise when the players from Paraguay and Venezuela clashed after the final whistle.

Venezuela played every match with passion and attacked from the kick off, with four players sprinting up front on one occasion from the very first kick in extra time. The final would be all the more entertaining with them there. The ‘Vinotintos’ have really been the team of Copa 2011.

Paraguay knock out the tournament's most entertaining team, Venezuela, who hit the woodwork three times and have a perfectly good goal disallowed. Match highlights and penalties below:
