The Ukrainian president has stepped in to the row about the exorbitant prices being charged by some hotels ahead of Euro 2012. Viktor Yanukovych has called on several ministers and officials to actively find ways to crack down on the overpricing which threatens to put off many thousands of football fans from travelling to cities such as Kharkiv, Kyiv, Donetsk and Lviv.
How this policing of prices will be enforced is another matter of course as there is no legislation in a free market system to prevent hotels from asking such high prices.
