Sunday, May 23
It is 9am and therefore my longest lie in in weeks. Bjorn is in the kitchen looking very pleased with himself. Can’t imagine why :)
Today might be regarded as what football teams will call ‘a rest day’ at the 2010 World Cup.
It is a leisurely Swedish Table breakfast out on the sunny veranda, a game of football in the garden with Kjetil’s family, South African Sunday newspapers and time for me to catch up with several days of blogging. After yesterday’s excitement and weeks of travel this is exactly what the doctor ordered.
I must admit though, I do feel like a bit of a gooseberry with two affectionate couples in close proximity. It seems like months since I was last with my lady, Ala, on a leisurely Sunday morning.
Highlight of the day is flicking through the TV channels, only to find my Italian friend (and former Riga United team mate), Tancredi being interviewed by CNN after the Inter Milan v Bayern Munich Champions League final.
It is only fair to email him and let him know we were on CNN two days earlier :)

Joburg, South Africa
Kjetil has done what others have failed to do and organized a big press event at the PSL headquarters in Joburg.
CNN, Norway’s N2 and a number of leading South African press people are present as Bjorn cycles in to the PSL to cheers and waves.
The CNN bureau chief, Kim Norgaard, loves the story and promises it will feature on the evening’s international edition of CNN. N2 also promise a long piece on their national evening news.
After being treated to dinner by Kjetil in one of Joburg’s most famous skyline restaurants – a place reminiscent of New York’s ‘Sex and the City’ – we return home to spot Bjorn on CNN.
It is a very big moment for the project and, hopefully, the first of many international news reports to come.
