It is almost time to set off for the Euros. It is all slightly surreal back in England where it is the Queen's jubilee and many villages are holding street parties, Union Jack flags and bunting covering every second building like we are back in 1977.
The England football squad is in absolute pieces after losing Gary Cahill, Gareth Barry and Frank Lampard. Worryingly, Roy Hodgson's answer to losing experienced internationals is to bring in untested Liverpool players to replace them, some of whom have had a shocking season and certainly do not deserve international recognition.
With only 6,000 England fans travelling out to Ukraine, I am sure the fans who have chosen to stay away must feel at this moment in time that they made the right decision. Never has so little been expected by so few.
Meanwhile, the Dutch look like they are on fire after hammering Northern Ireland 6-0, Italy are in utter disarray and Russia are beginning to look like a decent bet as dark horses.
More Than a Game flies out to the Euros on Wednesday along with what is left of the England squad. The likes of Lampard, Ferdinand, Cahill, Barry, Crouch and Lennon won't be on the plane. Somehow, Martin Kelly, Jordan Henderson and Stuart Downing are Ukraine-bound. Who could ever have predicted such a thing?

Camper Van Nick might be joining our gang for the 2012 Euros. Nick who, you might remember, drove myself, Columbian Rich, Geordie Robin and Swiss Fabio around South Africa in his camper van in 2010, is seriously considering a trip out to Ukraine. He was in Riga last weekend escaping the delights of Bolton for a few days. It is fair to say he ended his first trip to Latvia looking like a broken man after three nights of partying. Apparently, he was so hammered on the bus back to the airport that he got off two kilometres before the terminal and had to walk to Riga International Airport through a field.
Last night I also met a good friend called Christophe who used to live in Riga but now resides in London. Christophe is planning to sail from Stockholm to Africa in late spring. If he does I will certainly link this website to his for anybody who wants to follow what should be an epic adventure.
Minus 10 in Riga now. Website traffic going very well with nearly 600 unique visitors yesterday. Continuing to optimize More Than a Game ahead of this summer's Euros.
