Just three months until the start of the Euros and many of us are still waiting with baited breath to discover whether we actually have any tickets for the tournament. More Than a Game has applied for press accreditation, while half a dozen potential travel companions are also waiting for news of their UEFA ticket applications. Hope we all get news soon as there is no point trying to make travel plans until we all know where and when the matches will be that we can attend.
Last week's international football friendlies emphasized just how open this tournament will likely be. Germany are the best team on paper, perhaps, but they lost to a French side that is in white hot form. To be fair the Germans have a lot of players out at the moment but other results such as Sweden's extremely impressive away win in Croatia make you think that any one of eight or nine teams could seriously win Euro 2012.
I wouldn't include England in those teams. But, despite their obvious shortcomings, they still remain one of the bookies' favourites and England continue to lead the 'Who will win UEFA Euro 2012?' poll which you can see on the right hand side of this blog. Personally, I don't think England will make it out of their group of France, Sweden and Ukraine, and could potentially finish bottom of Group D in fact. Who do you think will win the Euros? If you haven't voted yet, then simply click on the team you think will win and then press the 'vote' button.
Just as it seemed winter was over in Riga, day time temperatures are back down below zero after a brief respite. Had enough of winter now and dreaming of warm sunny days on Crimean beaches.
