Nothing unites people more than football. I cannot think of a single country I have visited in the world where the topic of football or joining in a street kick about has not lead to me making friends. Through football you quickly understand that all of us, wherever we are from, are essentially the same. These days, sadly, top level football seems to be all about money. The photo above of a group of boys in Sudan represents the true meaning of the world's greatest game.
As well as uniting people in their love of the game, football can also be used to make a difference. I am joining my friend Bjorn Heidenstrom in Africa because he is using the sport to unite people...and to make a difference. Please consider if you will the plight of the world's countless millions of refugees and take time to look at the UNHCR's work in Africa and beyond.
