Tuesday, January 29, 2013 (Day 20)
Glad to be alive. Glad to get up at 7 and spend ten minutes lathering and rinsing myself down in the beautifully cold bucket shower. Glad to eat hot freshly baked white bread and cheese triangles and get into the office for 7.45. Yes, just glad to be alive in general.
I still feel rather shaken up by yesterday's incidents on the road. I am happy to get in to the office and start catching up with all of my blogs. Once this is done I can focus on the plan for the coming days; part of which is my new idea I had just before I saw that fatal car accident yesterday: namely, raising money; enough money for one of the boys' teams in Makeni to send their players to school for 12 months. I definitely need some tangible legacy when I depart here other than my direct or indirect impact on the running of the Craig Bellamy Foundation league. I think creating awareness of Sierra Leone, the Collective and the CBF through my blogs as well as raising money for 40 boys is the answer. I need to raise around £1000. Plenty of mates have run marathons and raised loads more than that. I need to get a plan together and ideally raise the grand before I depart these shores. I must be able to find forty mates who will throw twenty five quid in each.
More Than a Game joined The Collective and the Craig Bellamy Foundation in Sierra Leone for a seven-week voluntary placement in January 2013.
