England During my time with The Collective in Sierra Leone I will be working for the Craig Bellamy Foundation. But what exactly is the Craig Bellamy Foundation? About the Craig Bellamy Foundation The Craig Bellamy Foundation offers underprivileged children the chance to reach their true potential in life through sport and education. Launched two years ago, they run a non-profit-making football academy and international school, as well as operating a nationwide community development youth league, supported by UNICEF. The League involves nearly 2,000 children, in 44 teams, participating in football and community projects across Sierra Leone. Each team is led by a Manager and a Coach, both trained peer educators. Teams earn equal points for match results, fair play, school attendance and for leading community projects. The Foundation places a strong emphasis on education. It’s goal is to use football as a tool for development and ensure that the boys and girls not only learn to play football but receive a rounded education. A process that is vital for the country’s future development.
